[00:00:00]

Welcome to soul elevation, . I'm your host, Kara Goodwin. And I'm so excited for you to hear this episode with Dr. Mary Sanders. Not only was I fascinated by her explanation of how she receives her insights as a medical intuitive, but she shares captivating insights about the interplay between the chakras and the endocrine system and how these work together in favor of our healing.

With a wealth of experience as a medical intuitive and chiropractor, Dr. Mary is deeply committed to guiding individuals on their journey of personal transformation. She focuses on helping people cultivate thriving health, happiness, and purpose through the powerful tools of energy medicine, spiritual embodiment, and meditation.

So we'll get into that in just a moment. But first I want to let you know about love tuner.

I had Love Tuner's founder Sigmar Berg on a recent episode where we talked about the magic of sound frequencies and [00:01:00] specifically the love frequency of 528. Love Tuner gives you simple and immediate access to this frequency throughout your day. There's so many benefits from utilizing the power of the breath to being in the sound itself to just taking the couple of minutes of pause.

I've personally loved using it for infusing the frequency into different rooms around my home. So use the link in my notes and code Kara for 10 percent off. That's K A R A for 10 percent off Love Tuner. And now enjoy this episode.

Kara Goodwin: Well, welcome Dr. Mary. I'm so excited to be with you today.

Dr. Mary: Oh, Cara. I have to say it's the honor is all mine sincerely to be with you again and to connect with your listeners and I'm just ready to have an authentic kind of a juicy conversation about how we can maximize our energy centers to be in a proper alignment with our spirit and our souls purpose.

Kara Goodwin: Beautiful. Well, I had such [00:02:00] a, a beautiful time on your podcast too. So I love doing these exchanges where we can kind of be on different ends of the different sides of the mic, so to speak. Um, but I want to talk about, I want to start with your journey. How did you come into being a medical intuitive? Hmm.

Hmm. Hmm.

Dr. Mary: You know, I appreciate you asking this question and I chuckle every time somebody asks me because it's a non linear journey. It just unfolded as my life just kind of unfolded. I will share with you and the listeners that I was born hearing impaired. So my hearing capacity is half of what a normal person hears. But with that, I was blessed with the ability to tap into my extrasensory perceptions at a very young age. So I knew at the age of three that I was destined, if you will, to have my hands on physical [00:03:00] bodies. I just knew it. I knew it within the trillions of my cells. so then what ended up happening is that I took this information at a young age, and I was developing clairsentience and psychometry at a very young age.

And listeners, those are just fancy big words for being able to Perceive and receive information in the physical body. you know how it is listeners, you walk into a room and you immediately begin to sense other people's emotions and feelings. That's essentially, essentially what clairsentience I've just happened to fine tune it to where I feel.

feel within my physical body, what's happening within other people. And I've been doing that since a very young age, so that I could survive in this world as a hearing impaired person, not being able to hear, you just naturally start to learn other modalities or abilities. in order to be able to su other strength that I dev age with [00:04:00] psychometry and to be able to receive inf via your hand. the wa is that I feel frequencies through my hand. And this is something that has developed even more after being a practicing chiropractor for 30 years. So to fast forward my path into becoming a medical intuitive, um, I went to chiropractic school at a very young age. I graduated by the age of 25 for the first time.

When I was in chiropractic school, I had an awareness that I was connected into my tribe. These people were talking about the natural ability of the human body to heal itself from above, down, inside and out. That if we remove any interference and nerve interference, Then the body knows how to heal itself.

That there is an innate intelligence, a somatic wisdom that resides within all of us. And I do, and I have always [00:05:00] believed that. So that was just a normal course of beginning my professional career. And then as fate has it, you know, when you go to chiropractic school or medical school or any trade school, you learn the trade.

extremely well, but very rarely do you get the business training behind it. So I kind of fumbled my way through the business aspects of developing a practice, but through, resilience and perseverance, I developed a pretty successful multiple practices that I developed into, but unfortunately it led me into a state of burnout. And so after 21 years of being in professional practice, I went through a phase of burnout. And as fate has it, my husband acquired a position being a headmaster in a international school in Ho Chi Minh City. So we sold everything from the United States, uprooted ourselves, and moved to the other side of the world.

the world. And it was at that time, Kara, that I went through a tremendous identity crises. I [00:06:00]didn't know who I was if I didn't have a brick and mortar place. If I wasn't known and referred to as Dr. Mary went to the to the grocery store, I didn't know who I really was. I didn't know who I was, what I stood for, what my purpose was, what my reason for being here was.

I was very lost at that time. So I did what any sane person would do. I ran away from Ho Chi Minh City to Bali, Indonesia to finish up my yoga teacher's certification, my training. And I have been practicing yoga since my undergraduate degrees. I learned yoga from a, a beautiful physics professor who happened to be from India.

So I got the roots, um, at a very young age. Finally, I had the time to go do my YTT. It was during that time that I had some time to self reflect and to turn my awareness internally to start my healing journey, truthfully start my healing journey. [00:07:00] And through my YTT, I then fell in love with meditation. so I started to experience, once I returned back to Ho Chi Minh City, some pretty miraculous things as a direct result of being a meditator that I was then very curious. I knew the human body through exceptionally well from the neck on down. I knew the central nervous system, the autonomic nervous system, the sympathetics, parasympathetics.

I knew the muscle joints and nerves, but what was happening when I was meditating? What was happening in the space between my ears? And that led me to study underneath Dr. Talbin Shahar, and I went and studied and I traveled from Ho Chi Minh City to upstate New York to travel to study at the Whole Being Institute.

The reason that I selected Dr. Talbin Shahar because he was the first person to really talk about the, the [00:08:00] neuropsychology, you know, what is happening neurologically when we are meditating. Whole Being. And so I wanted to understand and embrace the neuroscience because that was my background. I figured if I could understand the science, then I would be able to accept some of the experiential magical things that were happening. And so that's exactly what I did. And so then I came back, turned on my husband into meditation and he was just fascinated and he wanted to bring the tool of meditation into the classroom. So we started a non profit organization. We then left Ho Chi Minh City and moved to Colombia. We moved to Bogota, where we still worked on nonprofit organization, and we had a group of 60 school groups in Lima, Peru that took over our program.

So I got to really hold space for teachers to embody the principles of meditation in the [00:09:00]classroom. For the sake of the next generation learning self soothing techniques to learn how to calm and to pacify their central nervous system. As life happens, I experienced two deaths within my family within a short amount of time, my mother, and then followed by my sister. And I had some really energetically powerful experiences in both of those transitions in which it really lit up my awareness that my. to know what's happening in the subtle energetic space surrounding the physical body. What happens when energetic cords are established with other people and how can we transform some of the familial ancestors belief systems that we carry within our physical bodies?

And that's what led me to the Academy of Intuition Medicine in Sausalito, California. where I then, fine [00:10:00] tuned my innate strengths and intuition to hold space for others as a medical intuitive. So like I said, I thought I was in control of my professional journey, but there was nothing linear about that process.

So

Kara Goodwin: Yeah,

Dr. Mary: here we

are today.

Kara Goodwin: I love it. I love how I mean, even though you said it wasn't like a straight path in, it was a little bit winding, but there's such logic to how it all happened. So it definitely feels like a divine guidance of, I mean, it's, you paint a beautiful picture about how, One thing led to the other and the building up of your understanding.

Now, I know that you have a lot of information about a topic that I think is so valuable that I don't think I've explored on this podcast. which is the intersection of. The chakras, which would be, you know, an energy, purely energetic part of our makeup, you know, you [00:11:00] can't dissect a body and find the chakra system.

And how that intersects with the endocrine system, which is controlling our, our home hormones, for example, and it, it, those are physical. So talk, can you talk about how those 2 work together and how they influence each other and how we can use that to. more holistically well,

Dr. Mary: I love how you phrased that question and before I start discussing how this is all interconnected, I want to offer up the ideas for all of us listening that the premise of which I stand by is that we as physical beings made up of TORONTO 2015 PAN AM, VIRGINIA are surrounded by an electric field, a magnetic field, and that emulates photonic emissions.

And what I mean by photonic emissions, [00:12:00] that's light. So when we think that there is emptiness, there is no emptiness. There's no space, empty space, that exists surrounding us because we're part of something much bigger than us. And there's no Empty space between the cells, the trillions of the cells that exist within our human body. So because we have this awareness or this understanding or this foundation, that we are all electromagnetically and light driven, and we can be influenced by any modality that can alter that field. Okay, so if we can all agree to come from that premise, then we can begin to talk about the biofield that surrounds our physical body. The biofield, essentially when you think about the aura, that's another way of calling it, there are [00:13:00] various different layers or there are various different penetration points. And so my belief system and many, many people believe this is that the environment that is that we are part of that exist outside our physical boundaries can violate or penetrate our energy systems. Okay, whether it be conditioned responses, whether it be traumatic environment, small T or big T traumas, things that happen repetitively over time penetrate the various layers of our biofield, and then it gets picked up by the environment. by the chakra system. Now chakras are nothing but a vortex, a wheel of energy that exists within and surrounding our physical body. for today's purpose, we're going to be talking about the seven lower chakras that are located within the [00:14:00] body. So, The energy centers, if you wrap your head around it, have a main overarching theme. It has an area or a body region that it governs. Therefore, it's picked up by a, series of nerves that connect with that organ. then it has an emotional component as well. So back to the idea that if information can travel from the environment through the layers of our auric field and penetrate into our chakra system, these wheels will pick up the energy, assimilate the energy, and then as we, if you want to say, digest this energy, it will then produce a life force energy or a response energy.

Font back out into the environment, and then that's how the cycle happens. Energy comes in and we express out. So for example, I'd like to talk about the connection [00:15:00] of the chakra system in its relation to its endocrine gland, specifically in the lower pelvis, the root chocolate. chakra located deep within the pelvic bowl. energy center is all about the overarching theme is all about safety, security, knowing that you are cared for, trust, trust like capital, capital T R U S T. I mean, trust in the divine that you will always be loved, cared for, and provided for. So there's an element that aligns with survival and prosperity.

All of your needs will be met the endocrine gland that is most intimately connected with the first energy center or the root chakra is the adrenal glands. And for many of you listening, you [00:16:00] know exactly what the adrenal glands are responsible for. They're small little kidney bean shaped glands that fit on top of your kidneys.

So you have a right side and a left side. And the adrenal glands are responsible for producing hormones like Epinephrine, adrenaline, DHEA, cortisol. I know the listeners are listening and you recognize some of these hormones and they are responsible for your fight or your flight or your freeze mechanism of the pair of the sympathetic.

branch of your autonomic nervous system. So imagine that your energy center over periods of time is being bombarded by the environment with negative life examples or emotional trauma in that your body no longer, your central nervous system no longer knows how to regulate itself. [00:17:00] It becomes disorganized. dysregulated. So that's why meditation is so important is so that we can balance this all out. But when the energy comes into that first energy center and we no longer have the resources in order to, we're designed to have that fight or flight mechanism, but if we stay in that mechanism for too long, it is exhausting to our central nervous system. comes in. It gets picked up by the adrenal system. The adrenal system then produce hormones. hormones can go immediately into the circulatory system via the blood, the blood vessels, and travel up into the brain. or it then gets picked up by a nerve root or nerve plexus or highway of nerves that take the adrenal gland and connect it into the spine and take the information up vertically into the brain so that the brain can have the proper response and [00:18:00] can have the proper hormonal response as well. So that's how I As you can see, as a medical intuitive, the connection between the electromagnetic and photonic emission that comes from the environment penetrates into the chakra system and gets picked up and processed by the endocrine system. So, unfortunately, when we think about the whole cascading events of the various different endocrine glands, if you alter one endocrine gland, it's going to create an imbalance in another one.

So, unfortunately, there's a whole cascade of events that happen. So, Kara, in a nutshell, that's how I see the connection between energy and the physical body.

Absolutely.

Kara Goodwin: what that tells me. Well, thank you. First of all, that's, that was beautiful. And I, I wonder too about the reverse of what you're saying, that cascading effect, so through meditation, that can be a beautiful way, as you said about what. [00:19:00] Yeah. Affecting the, adrenal glands in a positive way because we're allowing that alignment to come in and it's getting a different messaging from the external environment.

It's being bathed in calmness that we're cultivating from internally, and then that's going up into the brain, but hopefully then there's that inverse. relationship that exists on a positive level to where it kind of all can get into alignment without having to necessarily go bit by bit, one by one, brick by brick, where there is some interplay through all of it positively as well.

I, I would presume. I love that. And

Dr. Mary: upon, you know, as they. medical intuitive holding space for other people. I want to hold the space from an integrative perspective, meaning that, you know, there is a beautiful spirit that resides within their human home, the physical body. There are [00:20:00] energetic distortions that can emanate from the physical body that then put out to the universe various different conditioned responses that you electromagnetically attract them back. So if we are healing from above, down, inside and out, as I mentioned before, and within the energetic system as we permeate out and out from in, then we can heal. We can heal in present time, in our future. physical body, the emotional body, the mental body and the energetic body. And simultaneously, because we live in this multi verse that surrounds us, we can heal multiple timelines. can heal generational issues. We can heal. familial things and, uh, cultural conditioned responses or karmic conditioned responses. It then becomes so exponential, literally, as to what we have the control [00:21:00] over to heal.

Kara Goodwin: I I'd love for you to talk a little bit more about your work as a medical intuitive, you've talked a little bit about how you, as a child, you've always been able to perceive things and how that kind of set you up for the work you've done as an adult. I'm curious as your chiropractic, hands on practice kind of wrapped up and then you got more into meditation, you got more into the energy work, How that all came to be, how, how it all comes together and you work with people, how you pick up the information, how you pick up not only what systems are being affected, but what the best path to healing is.

Can you, can you go into that a little bit?

Dr. Mary: Yeah, I think you're asking some really important questions, Kara, and I want to first say that it is absolutely normal to have a ton of [00:22:00] questions and to say, lady. What is it that you do and how do you do it? And what is medical intuition, right? Because everybody out there has this, like, somehow, someway, they have this, like, image of what I can and cannot do.

So I really appreciate the opportunity to explain. And yes, I was born with some of these gifts. Okay. So again, if you're deficient in one of the sensory areas, your body, the universe knows how to provide you with extra sensory perception that enhances your ability to survive. Then I went and did additional training so that I could truly, um, open up and allow more information to flow through me when I'm in an expanded state. I approached that training with 15 years of meditation underneath my belt in 20 years of yoga underneath [00:23:00] my belt. So I had a very strong, https: otter. ai Felt sense awareness as to what was happening within my own physical body. So it makes it easier for me to discern what is mine and what is somebody else's. been trained that as an intuitive, I am not merging with another person's energetic field. It is not my job to take on any discordances that someone else is experiencing. would be considered an empathetic thing to do. While I do have empathy for others, I choose to come from a place of compassion, meaning that in a sacred space, I will witness what is going on, from a distance and allow the space for the other person to cultivate the healing. So what it looks like, Kara, for somebody to say, okay, Mary, I would like to experience your work. I would say, great. Let's go through an entire [00:24:00] intake evaluation. So, I go through an integrative intake form that tells me everything from your experience. What, what kind of experiences do you have with energy medicine?

Have you ever seen any other practitioners experience other modalities? Have you experienced traumas, big T, small T traumas? What physical issues are you dealing with? Uh, what kind of nutraceuticals are you doing? Do you meditate? What's your lifestyle like? What's your diet like? I want to know. I want to know if you have a dog, for crying out loud. I want to know if you have, you know, loving relationships in your lives. And so then I take that information, I sit with it. When I say that, what I mean by that is that I meditate with it. with the awareness just to receive information and when I set intention for any healing care, it's important for everybody to understand my intention is always to be of service to the highest good of the person who's receiving [00:25:00] the reading.

Always. And so I'm in an expanded state. I greet the person who wishes to have the healing via remotely via zoom or if they're in Boulder, Colorado, they're more than welcome to come into my, my small little boutique office. And then we sit and we create an entrainment. My intention is to you. Can create a channel that all of us, a frequency that all of us can tune into like a radio channel so that we can then harmonize our frequencies in a train. I do that through various different modalities. sometimes I use polyvagal theory. Sometimes I use guided imagery. Sometimes I use breathwork, panayama. It depends on the individual. Then once we are entrained, then I ask the person if they want me to lift the veil for reading or healing. And if that person says, yeah, I feel comfortable, I want to move [00:26:00] forward, then I ask them to sign in by using their first, middle, and last name. The whole intention, Cara, behind that is to call forth their spirit. Because their spirit is who guides the entire process. Then once I meet, my spirit meets their spirit, then I just, I sit back. Cara, I sit back, lean away from my analytical portion of my brain, the prefrontal cortex. I sink back further into the, into the brain, into the spirit. the third ventricle into the space of the hypothalamus, and I sit back and I receive information. I receive it via my body, I get physical sensations, sometimes I get physical sensations in my hand. what does that look like? Through my hands, sometimes I can feel, I can feel in the palms, I can feel [00:27:00] pressure, electromagnetic pressure.

So, the The analogy is if you take two magnets and you try to push them together, like there's a moment in which they connect, right? There's a moment in that they naturally push into one another. I feel that sensation through my palms. I feel it. feel that resistance. That to me is the signature of the density of another person's life force energy. So I can start to discern the health and the integrity of the physical body and the energetic body. A couple of other things. I can feel numbness or tinglings in the tips of my fingers, and sometimes that indicates to me I've been doing this long enough that now I know what some of these sensations are, right?

So, um, then this kind of tells me that there are the presence of other people's energies within that other person's [00:28:00] electromagnetic field. sometimes I can get like brushes of horizontal energy across my palms and that kind of has like a chevron kind of a sideways and that kind of indicates to me that perhaps there is recreational drug use or pharmaceutical abuse or things of that nature that might be interfering Take care.

with the expression of that other person's life force energy. that comes up, right? So that's psychometry. Those are just three examples. of three examples of, uh, clairsentience. I literally, when I'm sitting back, this stair spirit shows me different pain patterns or awareness signals within my own physical body. Like, for example, if there is an area of deficiency, okay, or excess for that matter, in an [00:29:00]energetic chakra, a vortex, I will physically, my awareness will be drawn to that area within my physical body. And I will get tightnesses. I will get, just an awareness of, sometimes I even get discomfort. And so when I'm holding space and I'm like, wow, that pain is, I'm feeling it, but what does, what do we do with this? And sometimes the spirit will show me how to redirect that pain or discordance out of the physical body for healing for the other person. Or it connects me to another endocrine system so I can start to see the emotional layering of the themes behind what's going on behind the energetics of another person. So I talked about psychometry and clairsentience. Um, I'm incredibly clairvoyant, but not in a way that may be different than how you see things, Kara. I [00:30:00] think clairvoyance is a big umbrella As to how people can clearly see what's happening for another person or direct knowing for that. So, I will get images within the field.

I will get images of discordance. I will get images of, physiology within the body. then that's, I sense and I say, The information that I receive, the information is not for me, it's for the other person in their healing journey.

Kara Goodwin: Hmm. Well, thank you for taking us through all of that. That was, that's fascinating. So, you mention that if people are there in Colorado, they can come with, they can come directly to your office, but you also said that you do a lot of work online. So how can people connect with you and find out more?

Dr. Mary: Sure, and for some of you listening, you may be like, how does this lady do this remotely? I just want to say that energy is not bound [00:31:00] by time nor space. And so we can tune in to the same radio frequency whether we're in person or remotely. So, just, I just want to answer that because that is a common question. And I would invite the listeners, if you are intuitively drawn to find out more information, I want to invite you to go to my website, which essentially is www. drmarysanders. com. And there's two things that I'll invite you to do. Number one, when you arrive at the website, I'll invite you to. first download the ultimate meditation guide. And the purpose of that is because those are the first three things that I, typically the first three things that I do in order to sense, feel and more clearly what's happening within the other person. So we talk about grounding, we talk about neutral separations and we talk about present time consciousness. So those three [00:32:00] meditations are extremely helpful in getting more clarity as to what's happening within your own physical system. And then if you're curious, there's a discovery call option on the website. And so then you and I, or whomever is interested, can connect one to one and you can, you can say, okay, these are the issues that are up for me. I want to know, have you. Um, have you worked with this in the past or do you intuitively feel that it might be, might benefit from energy medicine and so then that way we put a name, a phase, frequency together to see if I'm a good match. If not, I have a great resource of other practitioners who can also possibly help, and that I'm a source of referrals as

well.

Kara Goodwin: Beautiful. Well, thank you so much, Dr. Mary. I have just loved learning more about the chakra system and how it relates to the physical body and the endocrine system. And it's just fascinating to learn [00:33:00] how you perceive energy. I love hearing how it, how it shows itself to different people. So thank you so much for being here today.

Dr. Mary: Thank you. I appreciate you holding space.
