Kara: Hello and welcome to the Soul Elevation Podcast, guiding your ascension to new heights. I'm your host, Kara Goodwin, and I'm so excited to be with you today for this YouTube Live. I wanna talk about death and how I have. I've kind of been coming to a new realization, uh, about death, and it began with reading a book by Robert Moss called Dream Gates.
And this book is really about dreaming, using, dreaming as a vehicle of consciousness to understand ourselves better. To expand our consciousness to, um, explore beyond the confines of the physical realm. Robert Moss is an amazing author, an amazing [00:01:00] teacher, and I got a lot out of the book Dream Gates. And as the book progresses, it starts to talk about using dreams to prepare for death, which was something I hadn't thought about before.
Um, but there was a particularly poignant part where Robert started talking about how death is actually our friend and I have never, it really expanded my perception of death and what death is. And many people, particularly in the West, um, in the western world. See death as something to be afraid of. See death as something that we're trying to avoid.
Something that is unwelcome, something that we wanna keep at bay. You know, I'm an American. I live in an American culture and this [00:02:00] sub the under the surface of what's happening in our culture, in mainstream society, it is all about. Neglecting the fact that we're gonna die. Trying to pretend that that's not the case, and trying to pretend that we don't age.
It's, it's this, this perpetual game of trying to look younger, be younger, have you know, this eternal. Youth, and we see, you know, that that's kind of catching up with us as a culture, right? Because we can see the effects of all of the, for example, you know, the plastic surgery that a lot of celebrities have, and not even celebrities.
Um, and how that begins to make somebody look as they get older. Um, where, you know, they, they. They don't really, you know, they're, because they're trying to avoid ever [00:03:00] aging, then they, they morph into something that we're not used to seeing as they get older. Um, you know, there's a, a, a very kind of plasticy sort of look as somebody has more and more plastic surgery, which makes sense really.
But that's just one example of how, by. Trying to stay young at all costs. You know, what's underneath that? What, despite what happens physically, what is the mentality under that? And how as a culture are we feeding that? And really, that's another topic, but it's just, it's just an illustration for the purposes of showing that the culture that I'm in.
Is very, um, youth oriented, and it, it is very much a, you know, avoid death, fear, death, and. There's a [00:04:00] lot to that. You know, death is this mysterious thing from our perspective as living beings. When somebody crosses the death portal, we feel that we've lost access to them. They're no longer there physically for us to interact with.
So from our perspective, it looks like you die and you stop. That's the end. And of course we have so many accounts. I mean, this, this reality is filled with accounts who have crossed the death of those who have crossed the death portal and come back. They have had near, they're called near death experiences.
I've had a million of them, not really, but. I've had plenty of them on my podcast. If I remember, when I'm finished recording this, I'll put links to a lot of those. Those stories are so comforting. Because they show us one that life continues on, these people are clinically dead and they [00:05:00] enter a different reality.
There. It's, there is intelligence there. It's, it's different from planet Earth, but it's also just right there. I also just hosted a summit a couple of weeks ago, um, called Reaching Through the Veil, and there were, I had a lot of different mediums on there and a lot of different people with. Lots of different backgrounds, but they're all able to see beyond this veil that separates us from the unknown.
And they're constantly communicating with those who have crossed over and they, they told stories about what that's like for them and how that's shown up in their lives and how they work with people in that respect. So. When we do feel afraid of death, we have a lot of allies here in the physical. Who have experience, who can affirm that it's not the end.
So if, if you find yourself with a lot of fear [00:06:00] around death, there are a lot of resources for you to help you to change your perspective of death. But going back to this, you know, is death, actually our ally is death. Actually, our friend, the way that this was talked about in our, in the book was. About the shamonic, um, way that the, to interpret death, where death is a consciousness, which I hadn't really thought about that before.
Death being a consciousness, and of course we see this in, in. In my culture, there's the grim reaper, right? There's the cloaked. You know, the cloaked being that you can't see the face and it's got like the, what do you call that? A STH or a, you know, a staff, I don't know what you call it that, that they hold this like long stick with like a spear kind of thing, but like a horizontal sphere.
I think it's called a sth, but that's also a Star Wars term. [00:07:00] But anyway, um. It's this dark, you know, personified being, and it's scary. Like it's always presented as this scary thing. When death comes knocking, you know that that's something that we fear. I. Uh, but if we do look at it, if we step back from and zoom out from a soul perspective, from a spirit perspective, and we think about, obviously there was a time that we were born and there are a lot of wise sages and teachers, and again, those who have been on the other side, who tell us that.
We have a destiny, we have a path, and not everything is predestined in my opinion. But there are big parts of our lives that are preordained, and our birth is one of them. I mean, if you're into astrology at all, [00:08:00] do you think it's any accident that you were born at the date, the time, and the place where you were born?
Those things combine to create the story of you, and you can find a reflection of yourself in astrology based on the date. Time and the place of your birth. And so it does stand to reason that there's likewise a, an ordained exit portal for you. And again, if we look at it from a, you know, not just a human individualistic standpoint, but from a spiritual perspective where, you know, from the, the totality of your life.
You likely, in my opinion, had a hand in determining the best time for you to arrive in this life and the best time for you to exit. And that is cloaked for us. That's something that we don't [00:09:00] have insight into as we're going through our lives, but our soul knows our, our higher self knows what that. Time is and and how that best fits into what we're here for as a soul.
And then if we think about death as a consciousness, death is here to carry us into another phase of our spirits. Experience beyond this life. And so death is this friend that comes that says, okay, it's time now to go. It's time to be carried into the next part, and this is what you have been. Um, this is what you, you know, you planned, you planned that you would live to be this old, and you would have these experiences, and you've had those experiences now, and they've all, you know, collected to [00:10:00] become part of who you are as a soul, as a spirit.
You've learned from it, you've gotten wisdom from it, you've gotten experience from it. You came, what you, you came and you received what you. Are here for, and now it's time for you to move on to the next thing. And so death is this, this friend who comes and escorts us and says, you know, okay, it's time and I.
Again, going back to the near death experiences, I think that the near death experiences also mirror or show us, illustrate to us that death is our friend. Because every near-death experiencer is somebody who has come back. They cross the death portal. They, they encountered death, the consciousness of death.
And what did death do? Death said it's not time yet. You're early. You have more work to [00:11:00] do. You didn't agree to come back at this time here. Let me show you around a little bit. We can make use of this. This is actually part of your plan too. I want you to get a glimpse of what is. What is here on the other side, look around.
Talk to your guides, talk to your loved ones, your ancestors. Get, really see how you have this whole network on the other side that is conspiring to help you go back and tell people, go back and change the way that you experience life, but go back to life and, and live in a new way and let the people know.
And so death is working in your favor. It's not snatching you ahead of your time, so. I really appreciated this perspective of seeing death one personified, um, because I hadn't really explored that as a personification. There was even a story of, [00:12:00] um, in the book of somebody. Who had, I think he, they'd done a dream journey because Robert does these shamanic dream journeys that he leads.
And I, and, and I think the exercise was go and, um, connect with death, with your death, and how can you prepare for it and how can you use it as a tool to enhance your life? And again, this isn't a morbid. Thing. It's, it's expanding our understanding of the human experience and being more open and less fearful about the totality of our human experience.
Because death is a part of our human experience. Even though it's hard for us to talk about, it's hard for us to think about, and there is that fear there. But like I encourage so often in, in, you know, these. These lives and in my teachings. The things that we're afraid of, the [00:13:00] things that cause fear, the things we don't wanna look at are so often there is medicine in there.
There is expansion of our consciousness where we don't want to look. That is a place where we can have rapid. Evolution and rapid learning and add more energy and vitality because we're reclaiming parts of life. We're adding it into the energy of who we are. Um, but this person, what I was saying was that this, this person did this death journey and death actually, they actually saw, I think they were maybe going back to a past life and they saw their death and they saw.
Death, this personification of death actually sliced them long ways and then sliced them again horizontally. And so they were in quarters and the person talked to death. Like, why did you do that to me? Why did you, why [00:14:00] did you, um, put me into quarters? Because that seemed like a. An enemy thing to do, right?
Like that's not, doesn't feel like a loving thing to do, but one of the things that this book explores. Is the different bodies, the different energy bodies that we have. One of those being the astral body. And the book talks about how we have the, the physical body. We have a dream body that's an energy body.
It's like a double of us, but it's pure energy. It might also be called the astral body, or there might be a slight difference between those things. And we have like different etheric bodies. And when we die. We of course, immediately lose the physical body or drop the physical body, but we still have this dream body or this astral body, and it takes a little bit of time for that body to disintegrate.
So the soul will stay encased in that astral [00:15:00] body for a few days, maybe longer. It depends if they, um, transition into the light and how rapidly that happens, but. But there, it's purposeful that that encasement of the astral body is purposeful. And if, if the soul leaves that body too soon, then that astral body is still there and it can kind of be taken over by a different energy or by a different entity.
It can be a vehicle for a different energy. Because that body is still available, but the soul has left it. And so the death explained, oh, by doing this, I am releasing you. I am and, and no other entity can now come in and use this energy body for nefarious reasons. So even something like. Destroying the energy body that on the surface could look like an act of, [00:16:00] um, I mean, something terrifying, right?
Why are you killing my energy body? Why are you maiming me? But it's, it's actually purposeful, it's helpful. It's like, well, the, now you're release. And your energy, this energy body can't be taken over by another entity and used for purposes that you wouldn't want. So really, really interesting and fascinating, and I would just encourage you to.
To, if nothing else. Think about for yourself how you view death. Are you afraid of death as so many people are? You know, and, and there's no shame, there's no judgment, but there is an invitation to begin to view it in a different way that can really, really benefit you and help you to. Understand life in a different way, whether that is dealing with your or own [00:17:00] mortality or your grief because of what you have lost.
Those who who have crossed over, which, you know, grief is such a a, a very hard place to be. And when we feel that we've really lost somebody and that they're absolutely gone, that that makes it even that much harder. So when we have this. New view of death that can really help to soften our grief and cha and, and alchemize it so that we can understand that something else is happening.
We now have another ally on the other side. We'll always be connected and, um, that there isn't anything to fear. So I, I hope that that is helpful. I'd highly encourage you if this topic is interesting to you. The book again, that I'm referring to is Dream Gates by Robert Moss. I'll put a link in the notes and I will also.
I'm trying really hard to remember [00:18:00] to put some of the near-death experiences in the notes as well, uh, the episodes of Soul Elevation where you can go and listen to those because they are deeply, deeply healing. Um, it's such a beautiful topic when we're, when we're considering death and the role of death in our lives.
So I wish you many, many blessings and thank you so much for being here today.
